My Story

I am a teacher completing her 39th year of teaching.  I first started teaching First Grade in 1976. Then after three years moved on to a new school and new grade, kindergarten. I stayed there for 35 years. This past school year I asked to be moved to First Grade for several reasons, I felt it would be easier physically and would give me a chance to expand my center ideas. Boy did it?  I have spent every weekend this school year making new centers.  I hate grading papers and have always sought to use centers to teach skills instead of using dittos. I want my children to love learning and have fun while they are doing it.

For years I have had fellow teachers tell me I needed to sell my centers.  I was introduced to Teacher Pay Teachers by a student intern assigned to me.  After five years of talking about it I am finally taking the plunge and getting ready to share my centers through the TPT website.  I have been spending weeks preparing and hope to start uploading them soon.  Trying to make sure I am following all the rules has been very time consuming, much more than I ever thought.  I am hoping to be in full swing by next school year and hope other teachers will love them as much as I do.

My future goal is to retire and sit around making centers for other teachers to use.  Here's to a new chapter in life and hopefully one that will be a successful way to supplement my retirement income in the future. Thanks for sharing the adventure!

A Peek into my Panda Classroom

As a lover of all things panda bear and all things bright I wanted my classroom to clearly reflect that. I try to keep things organized to make my job a bit easier and allow more time for creating and teaching. Hope you enjoy!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog!
My name is Candy Ellis and I currently on my 39th year of teaching. I started out in first, went to kindergarten for 37 years , and am now back in first grade! I have a passion for creating games and activities to use with my students. I love to teach using the hands on approach. Centers are a major part of my teaching strategies and I am always creating new ones to add to my classroom. I'd love to be able to share that passion and what I have created with you.  Please take a look around here and follow me on TPT at https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/The-Panda-Teacher to see more!
